OUR EVOLUTION
Fortis, a Latin word meaning “strong”, our company was founded in 2010 by three police officers who believed that the key to strength was preparedness. Initially established to answer the need for better law enforcement tactical training, the company quickly evolved into helping the private sector. Primarily due to the increase of violent crime and active shooter tragedies. With a team of subject-matter experts, Fortis Group went on to deliver thousands of hours of instruction and consulting on use-of-force, advanced firearms training, self-defense, active shooter preparedness and security improvements to its private and corporate clients.
Recognizing the demand for private investigations and protective services, Fortis Group expanded in 2019 adding its Investigative Services Division. As private protection requests intensified, Fortis Group assembled a tremendous team of active and retired public safety sector professionals to answer the call.
Then, following the aftermath of the Oxford High School tragedy in 2021, Fortis Group harnessed all its institutional knowledge, experience, and capabilities, with a laser focus on protecting our most precious resource, our children. Fortis Group’s School Safety Officer program is now redefining school security and setting the standard for third-party professional armed school protection.
